Welcome to the one of the most scalable, stable, secure, advanced and modern operating systems on the planet, Solaris 10. This is it with the Common Desktop Environment.

I'll also post a picture of what Solaris 10 looks like with the much prettier Java Desktop Environment.

Solaris kicks ass! Fantastic. I love CDE.

I like it too. It's more lightweight and easier on the clock cycles than most of the heavier but prettier display managers out there, plus I also make use of the switchable desktop feature a lot.

In most of my boxes, I have a very minimal setup. Mostly evilwm, dwm for those long hours of coding, and fluxbox, just so that my girlfriend doesn't complain when she is visiting. thats about it. but on some old boxes, i use just twm, and cde on other old sparc stations.

of late i have been using ctwm extensively.

i don't really care if people tell me that it is so 80s to use such wm's. I would rather use all my resources to do my mathematical calculations, than gnome or kde and the eye candy taking up half a gig of my memory.

Thats why i get excited whenever i see such screens. forgot to +fav, so doing it right now.

When I first saw this, I was like "woot! An OpenVMS screenshot!".

Oh well, Solaris is nice too. ^^

Thanks. I have an OpenVMS/VAX 7.3 Foundation screenshot taken from SSH from a VT200-style terminal on my old Linux box somewhere around here, but it's just the commandline.

D'awww, I'm accustomed to VMS commandlines. [link]
